USMTS - United States Modified Touring Series
Stevens Scores First Career USMTS Victory at Mitchell’s Motorplex
Perkinston, MS (April 2026) — The Summit Racing Equipment USMTS presented by RacinDirt.com rolled into the Magnolia State for Round 2 of the Mississippi Spring Challenge, delivering a thrilling night of racing at Mitchell's Motorplex.
A stout field of 33 of the nation’s top Modified drivers checked in, all chasing a $5,000 payday and bragging rights against the best of the best.
When the green flag dropped, it was a front-row showdown as Reece Solander, starting from the Sybesma Graphics Pole, went wheel-to-wheel with Tyler Stevens. The duo battled intensely in the early stages before Stevens found his rhythm and took command.
Stevens stayed smooth and consistent through the remainder of the feature, holding off challenges to secure his first career USMTS victory and the $5,000 winner’s share. In addition to the cash, Stevens was awarded a Louis Vuitton purse and a standout trophy courtesy of the Holland Family.
“Man, I knew it was important to be out front,” Stevens said in victory lane. “I missed my line in the early stages of the race, and I knew it was going to be important to hit my marks and we’d be good.”
Local standout Jade Luzenberg turned heads with a career-best performance, charging to a strong runner-up finish while keeping pressure on Stevens throughout much of the race.
Solander rounded out the podium in third, followed by six-time series champion Rodney Sanders in fourth, and Brandon Givens completing the top five.
The USMTS now shifts its focus north for a marquee doubleheader weekend featuring the Jon Fuller Memorial and Mid America Nationals at Scotland County Speedway.
Fans and teams are encouraged to stay tuned for additional event details as one of the season’s most anticipated stops draws near.
