Cody Enters the 10th annual USMTS Cajun Clash

Cody Thompson trekked south to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, La.) on Thursday as he entered the first event of his career in Louisiana. The opening round of the 10th annual Cajun Clash brought another star-studded field of 59 Summit Racing Equipment United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries to the 1/4-mile oval.

Cody found himself behind the eight ball early with the 10th fastest time in his qualifying group, but he rebounded to charge from 10th to fourth in his heat race. While he narrowly missed locking into the feature via his heat race, a third-place finish in his B-Main promoted him to the feature in the 19th-starting spot.

Thompson advanced as high as the 11th position in the $3,000-to-win finale before bad luck bit on the 20th circuit, forcing an early end to his night. He was credited with a 28th-place finish.

On Friday night Cody finished seventh in his heat race, which pinned him deep in a B-Main. With a 14th-place finish in the B-Main his night ended early.

The weekend drew to a close on Saturday night with a $10,000-to-win program. Cody's bad luck and struggles from the night before plagued him once again, and he was unable to earn a starting spot for the feature as his weekend came to a close.
