Thompson Treks South to Rocket Raceway Park
Cody Thompson kicked off the 2023 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) schedule over the weekend at Rocket Raceway Park (Petty, Texas).
On Saturday night the weekend came to live with a staggering 87 entries in the pit area for the $10,000-to-win program. On a fast race track, Cody qualified seventh fastest in his group before starting and finishing seventh seventh in his heat race. Rolling off 11th on the B-Main grid, Cody retired early as his night came to an early end with a broken rocker arm.
Thompson enjoyed a better outing on Sunday evening. After finishing third in his heat race and then second in his B-Main he edged into the main event in the 20th-starting spot. He advanced four spots to finish 16th.
