Ramirez races to Top-10 finish at Hamilton County

On Friday night, Dereck Ramirez was one of 49 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries entered at Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa) for the inaugural Spring Challenge. Passing two cars in his heat race to place second behind Jake Gallardo, Dereck locked into the seventh-starting position for the opening night feature. Dropping two spots, Ramirez logged a ninth-place outing.

The following night, Ramirez came in fourth in his heat race, transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main. Locking in the Top-5, Dereck streaked to a 12-lap consolation victory, which positioned him 14th on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Breaking into the Top-10, Ramirez advanced forward six spots to register an eighth-place finish.

Dereck is currently second in the latest USMTS point standings.
