Ramirez bags fifth win of the season at RPM Speedway

Recording his fifth win of the 2021 campaign Dereck Ramirez topped Thursday night’s United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) action at RPM Speedway in his No. 4r Koda Services/ Boom-Test Well Service/ Raw Truck Wash/ Hughes Racing Chassis/ Cornett Racing Engine Modified.

The victory was worth $5,000. Additionally, on the heels of consistency Dereck was able to extend his lead atop the latest USMTS standings as he continues to focus on claiming his first-career series title.

“We had a great night at RPM Speedway and were able to lead all 40 laps to get the win. Then on Saturday night we let one slip away on the last lap in lapped traffic at The Rev. It’s a tough way to lose one, but it happens,” Ramirez said. “The good news is we were able to add to our point’s lead.”

Embarking on a four-race stretch with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS), Dereck Ramirez invaded 81 Speedway (Park City, Kan.) on Wednesday evening. Following a sixth-place finish in his heat, Ramirez logged an eighth-place finish in his consolation event, which forced him to take a provisional to start the opening night feature. Coming one spot shy of a Top-10 finish, Dereck passed 12 cars in the 35-lapper to finish 11th.

On Thursday evening at RPM Speedway (Crandall, Texas), Dereck’s eight-lap heat race victory positioned him second on the starting grid for the A-Main. Leading all 40 laps, Ramirez wired the field to capture his fifth win of the 2021 campaign and a $5,000 prize. He finished ahead of Tyler Wolff, Lucas Schott, Carlos Ahumada Jr., and Tanner Mullens. For the ninth annual Cajun Clash on Friday at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, La.) on Friday evening, Ramirez advanced two spots in his heat race to pick up the win. Continuing his upward trend in the feature, Dereck gained two positions to finish fourth. He trailed Terry Phillips, Tanner Mullens, and Rodney Sanders across the line.

For the weekend finale on Saturday at Revolution Park (Monroe, La.), Dereck won his heat race to earn the sixth-starting spot for the feature. He would charge to the lead on lap 25 and led until the final lap when Dustin Sorensen was able to sneak by in lapped traffic to grab the win. Ramirez. He followed Dustin Sorensen across the line with Tanner Mullens, Jake Timm, and Jake O’Neil rounding out the Top-5.

Dereck increased his lead to 51 markers in the latest USMTS point standings.
