81 Speedway schedule unveiled for 2021
F.O.E. Enterprises and track promoter John Allen released an ambitious schedule Monday night for the 2021 race season at 81 Speedway in Park City, KS. 27 total dates dot the calendar from the beginning of April through the season October atop the 3/8-mile oval, with 3 “rain dates” in the mix as well. Two open practice dates scheduled for March 6th and March 20th kick off the 2021 season before the official season opener on April 3rd.
Highlighting the schedule, the “baddest modifieds on the planet” with United States Modified Touring Series division will visit Park City, KS twice in 2021. The series makes their first stop on August 5th for the 10th Annual USMTS Sunflower State Showdown, the annual August race being a nail biter each of the last two years. Woodward, OK’s Dereck Ramirez would likely prefer to forget both races, as Terry Phillips clipped him on the last lap in 2019, with Rodney Sanders singing the second verse of the same song in 2020. After a wildly successful debut under the USRA banner, the USMTS series will headline the 2021 version of the Modified Spooktacular on October 30th for the 2nd Annual event.
USRA sanctioned Summit Weekly Racing Series A-Mods and B-Mods have a strong influence during 2021. Alternative Pest Management returns as the track title sponsor for the A-Mod division and will see their division run 16 times, while the Chunky Poodle Cookie Co. has signed on as the tracks B-Mod division sponsor. Competing just a handful of times last season, 2021 will see the B-Mod schedule expand to 17 shows. The ever-popular local Rookie Modified division also returns in 2021 with 18 dates throughout the season. Born as a proving ground for inexperienced modified racers, many of the tracks top USRA Modified stars, as well as USMTS competitors Tanner Mullens and Tyler Davis, have cut their teeth in the Rookie Modified division in years past.
Full bodied racecars will have a strong presence at 81 Speedway in 2021. The HeyGlassman.com Stock Cars and the 4-cylinder Mini Stocks will both appear 13 times each. AutoTech Service Center Super Stocks get a name change for 2021. Shifting away from the “Street Stock” moniker, the Super Stock name more accurately describes the stock car big brethren that will scatter soil 10 nights in 2021.
Not to be forgotten, the Sprint Car and Late Model divisions will have a strong presence during 2021. The Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAV TV National tour tops the tracks Sprint Car slate, making their stop on July 29th during the tours second annual Sprint Week, while the ASCS Sooner Region will visit earlier in the year on June 19th. Traditional Non-winged sprint cars fans get their fix on June 26th when the 2nd Annual USAC Border Wars event returns with the Wingless Sprints of Oklahoma and the Midwest Wingless Racing Association going head-to-head. Oil Capital Racing Series Sprint Cars visit twice on May 22nd and September 11th, while the URSS 305 sprint car series makes 3 stops on May 22nd, June 19th, and September 18th. Late Model competitors get 6 shows during 2021. The Sooner Late Models visit 3 times on April 4th, May 15th, and August 28th, and 81 Speedway will play host to 3 of their own events on June 12th, July 10th, and September 11th.
October’s schedule is unique featuring an Enduro on the 16th, while the 2nd, 9th, and 16th have been earmarked as rain dates. Should any weekly racing series event be cancelled due to inclement weather throughout the 2021 season, that race will shift to one of the 3 scheduled rain date weekends in October.
