Top-10 finish in Spring Shootout at Fountain City
After more than a two-month hiatus due to the ongoing Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, Dereck Ramirez returned to action on Friday evening at Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisc.) for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned Spring Shootout. Following a fifth place finish in his heat, Ramirez streaked to a 12-lap consolation victory. Earning the 13th-starting position for the opening night feature, Derek jumped up five spots to place eighth.
Saturday night’s finale fell victim to Mother Nature while Monday’s event at Park Jefferson International Speedway (North Sioux City, S.D.) was postponed to June 15th.
Dereck is currently in second in the latest USMTS National Championship point standings.
