Dereck Ramirez attends Masters weekend at Cedar Lake

Thursday night saw Dereck Ramirez return with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) for the 21st annual Masters presented by Allstar Performance. After coming in seventh in his heat, Ramirez grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot in his B-Main. Improving five spots in the opening night feature, Dereck logged an 18th place outing.

For the $5,000-to-win A-Main on Friday evening, Derek secured his spot into the main event with an 8-lap heat race victory. Advancing forward one spot in the 40-lap affair, Ramirez notched a fourth place finish behind Rodney Sanders, Terry Phillips, and Jake O’Neil with Zack VanderBeek coming in fifth.

On Saturday evening, Ramirez fell short of a transfer position in his heat with a fourth place finish, transferring him into the B-Main. Streaking to a 12-lap consolation victory, Dereck locked into the 14th-starting position for the $10,000-to-win finale. Wheeling his way into the Top-5, Dereck Ramirez passed nine cars in the 50-lapper to place fifth behind Terry Phillips, Shane Sabraski, Rodney Sanders, and Cade Dillard.

Dereck sits in second in the latest USMTS National Championship point standings.
