Chisholm completes 'hat trick' at Featherlite Fall Jamboree

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. --With a second straight track championship at the Deer Creek Speedway and nine wins on the season, Jim Chisholm was certainly one of the favorites coming into the 21st Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree.

By the time the checkered flag waved on Saturday night, the 16-year-old from Osage, Iowa, had an even dozen feature race trophies and a three-race clean sweep over a field of some of the toughest Out-Pace USRA B-Mod drivers in the country.

The opening laps of Saturday's 25-lap main event were nothing short of amazing.

Lap after lap, Chisholm and defending Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national champion Kris Jackson threw slide job after slide job at each other, only slowing their battle for the seven cautions that plagued the race.

Late in the race during one of those cautions, Jackson pulled to the infield and was out of the contest with mechanical troubles for the second night in a row.

From there, Chisholm cruised to his third win of the weekend and third Arnold Motor Supply Iron Man Challenge victory of the 2019 campaign.

Including bonuses from Red Tail Tackle, Weber NAPA Auto Parts and Ray Winkles, Chisholm's take-home pay was $2,050 while Parker Hale pocketed $1,000 for his runner-up effort.

Kadden Kath, who shared the 2018 track championship with Chisholm, held off defending Iron Man champ Dan Hovden for third while 17th-starting Cole Denner finished fifth.

Ryan Maitland, Cole Suckow, Kylie Kath, Jake Masters and current Arnold Motor Supply Iron Man Challenge points leader Jared Boumeester completed the top 10.

Make plans now to attend the 22nd Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 17-19, 2020, at the Deer Creek Speedway.

Summit USRA Nationals next: Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series racers will get to showcase their talents against one another this Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 24-28, at the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa, when the track hosts the 6th Annual Summit USRA Nationals.

The event is also the season finale for both the American Racer USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods in the Arnold Motor Supply Iron Man Challenge.

Tuesday is an open practice night for all drives and then USRA Late Models and USRA "Alternative" A-Mods will compete on Wednesday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday will put the spotlight on USRA Modifieds, American Racer USRA Stock Cars, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods and Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks. USRA Tuners join the program on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday's show will also feature a new special event that will reward individual drivers from each USRA sanctioned track in the first-ever Summit Shootout. This year's Summit Shootout will feature USRA Modifieds, American Racer USRA Stock Cars, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods and Mensink Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks.
